Spitfire flypast confirmed for Thruxton Retro
A true icon of British aviation will take to the skies above Thruxton Retro this weekend (4-5 July), with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight confirmed to send a Spitfire to perform a flypast on both Saturday and Sunday.
The flypast will add a memorable aviation highlight to a weekend already packed with historic motorsport, retro entertainment, classic vehicles, live music, family activities and 80s-themed festival fun. Visitors will have the chance to experience the unmistakable sight and sound of one of the most recognisable aircraft in the world as it passes over the UK’s fastest circuit.
Operated by the Royal Air Force, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight exists as a living tribute to the aircrews of the Second World War, displaying historic aircraft at events across the country.
The Supermarine Spitfire remains one of Britain’s most celebrated aircraft. First flown in 1936, it went on to become closely associated with the Battle of Britain and is now regarded as an enduring symbol of British engineering and wartime history.
Thruxton Retro takes place from Friday 3-5 July with a packed line-up of classic and historic racing, live music, car displays, drag racing, family entertainment, food and drink, the Andover Radio & Love Andover Community Stage, Group B rally and historic rallycross displays, retro attractions and much more.
